Anna Ottani Cavina: Villa Medici
20 March 2016
Auditorium Parco della Musica, Rome
In Rome, the wonders of the places reveal a universe of unique styles in the world; stroll through its streets and squares is like leafing through the richest Manual of Western art history.
Arches and stairways, columns and obelisks, villas and gardens, palaces and churches, fountains and monuments, reflections of the glory of emperors, princes and popes, witnesses to the genius of artists tell filigree stories and adventures of a capital. It would be too much to expect it to imprison the Eternal City in a unique portrait, for comprehensive and pitched it, except in a set of signs that always offers new possibilities for reading.
After the flattering favor of the lessons of last season it was decided to propose another series of in-depth courses, through a series of meetings with some of the same previous editions of scholars, who gladly return Auditorium to talk about new topics and other important Italian intellectuals, known in the international arena and engaged in various research fields. To enrich the new cards an extraordinary cultural mosaic, because the citizens are enabled to aspire to beauty, even invited to the pleasure of discovery, to the sweetness of life, the lessons of this cycle are dedicated to that extraordinary stratification of culture that is the city of Rome itself revived here through the story of his “factories” major, major architectural and urban construction sites that have determined its appearance in several centuries.
