when November 11, 2015 – March 28, 2016
where MAXXI, Rome

MAXXI hosts ‘Transformers’ until March 28, 2016. Through the works of four artists, Choi Jeong-hwa, Didier Fiuza Faustino, Martino Gamper and Pedro Reyes, reality becomes another reality, which ignites the imagination, thought-provoking, invites to share and experience.

Our world is changing, a combination of analog and digital is changing the way people live. New technologies are changing the way we define ourselves as human beings and, therefore, “transformation” is now the key word of our lives. In the face of this epochal change, many authors have implemented revolutionary attempts to meet the challenge, both through forms of resistance to innovation.

Along with the audience, the four “transformers” from different parts of the world give life to a visionary and inspiring show.
Korean Choi Jeong-Hwa, drawing on the wisdom and popular aesthetic, turns “artistic and architectural installations” in provocative demonstrations in support of “good values” and a “happy life”.
The Franco-Portuguese Didier Faustino tests the common perception of the space and the conventionality of our behavior, through devices that force us to a comparison with our physical and mental limits in a new reality marked by the tension between social emergencies and requests freedom.
The Italian Martino Gamper adopts the culture of collaboration known as DIY (Do-It-Yourself), reinterpreting the idea of doing through recycling and the act of reinventing.
The Mexican Pedro Reyes makes social interaction may take new paths, using realism and peace as a means of resistance against violence and war.
